The countdown has begun! In less than eight weeks, RMOWP’s annual conference begins in beautiful Golden, Colorado, on June 26. To date, twenty members have already registered.
I hope you’ve had time to look over the schedule for this year’s conference. We’ll have several wonderful field trips. The first will be to the historic Argo Mines and Tunnel, one of the largest and most well-preserved gold mines. Tuesday we’ll visit Roxborough State Park for a guided walk along the Fountain Valley Trail. There are also special guided tours to Dinosaur Ridge and a post-conference, high-elevation field trip to Mount Evans (each requiring advanced registration).
Along with our annual photo critique and writer’s forum, we have a great line-up of workshops scheduled. We welcome each of our workshop leaders, including Dawn Wilson, president of NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association) and her workshop Writing for Your Photos, Taking Photos for Your Writing. RMOWP’s own Steve Cochrane will offer the Art of Photography workshop. David Nelson, from the Evergreen (CO) Camera Club, will lead a lecture on Droning On! Photography with an Altitude. And Dan England, a writer frequently published in Colorado Outdoors, will lead the final workshop, How to Write with Voice.
Early risers can join the sunrise photo shoot. We’ll share our year’s best photos in our contest entry video. And we’ll laugh together during our ever-popular auction. Of course, we’ll also have lots of good food and time to meet and chat with old and new friends. I look forward to seeing each of you there! Safe travels to all.
